  • Data Leakage and Unauthorized Access: Copilot’s access to sensitive information is contingent upon user permissions within the organization. However, incorrect access controls may lead to data leakage, wherein Copilot inadvertently accesses and exposes sensitive data without proper authorization. For instance, if a user has access to a spreadsheet containing salary information, Copilot may inadvertently include this sensitive data in its outputs, potentially violating privacy regulations.
  • Compliance Challenges: Meeting regulatory standards such as GDPR and HIPAA poses a significant challenge when integrating Copilot into enterprise environments. Despite Microsoft’s provision of Data Processing Agreements and Business Associate Agreements, ensuring compliance requires meticulous auditing and reporting capabilities, particularly concerning the opaque processing methods of AI models.
  • Vulnerabilities and Attack Vectors: Copilot’s integration with Microsoft 365 services exposes organizations to vulnerabilities inherent in these services and their integrations.
